About the Artist

Baz Kanold is a mixed media artist graduated in 2021 from the Fine Arts program at the University of Waterloo. Previously, they studied advertising and graphic design at Sheridan College, followed by several years of working as a graphic designer. Instead of continuing on working a nine-to-five office job, they decided to advance their education in the arts in order to pursue their dream of becoming an artist.

Their artwork over recent years has developed into an investigation and celebration of sexuality and gender identity — though they still find time to pepper in some nerdiness when they have the chance. While they consider themselves a mixed media artist, they have a general focus on oil painting, conté or pencil on paper, and digital drawing.
